Understanding duration settings helps you create well-paced films.

Duration Options

Veo 3 supports clip durations from 1 to 8 seconds.

Setting Duration

  1. Select your frame
  2. Use the Duration slider in the sidebar
  3. Set your desired length
  4. Generate video

Note: Changing duration after video generation will require regenerating the video.

Pacing Guidelines

Fast-paced action:

  • 2-3 second clips
  • Quick cuts between angles
  • Higher energy motion prompts

Emotional drama:

  • 5-8 second clips
  • Slow, deliberate movement
  • Allow moments to breathe

Dialogue scenes:

  • 3-5 second clips
  • Match to speech rhythm
  • Cut on action or reaction

Total Film Duration

Your project shows total calculated duration based on all frame durations combined. Use this to track your film's length.

Tip: The 180 Rule

For smooth pacing, alternate between:

  • Long establishing shots (6-8 sec)
  • Medium dialogue/action (3-5 sec)
  • Quick inserts and reactions (1-2 sec)
