Maintaining Character Consistency
One of the biggest challenges in AI filmmaking is keeping characters looking consistent across frames. Here's how to solve it.
Using Reference Images
Studio AI supports character consistency mode using Gemini AI. This allows you to upload reference images that the AI will use to maintain appearance.
How It Works
- Generate your character's first appearance
- Save that image as a reference image
- When generating subsequent frames, enable "Use References"
- The AI will match the character's appearance
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Create Your Character
- Write a detailed prompt for your main character
- Generate multiple variations
- Choose the one you like best
Step 2: Save as Reference
- Open the AI Image Studio modal
- Click "Add to References" on your chosen image
- Name the reference (e.g., "Main Character - Sarah")
Step 3: Generate Consistent Images
- Select a new frame
- Click "Generate with References"
- Select your saved reference images
- Write your new prompt
- Generate - the AI will maintain consistency!
Best Practices
- Use clear, well-lit reference images - Avoid dark or obscured faces
- Limit to 5 characters - Gemini works best with fewer references
- Include multiple angles - Front, side, and 3/4 views help
- Keep consistent clothing - Describe outfits in every prompt
- Use the same style keywords - Maintain "photorealistic" or "animated" consistently
Limitations
- Works best for human characters
- Maximum 14 reference images per generation
- Subtle variations may still occur
- Complex poses may affect consistency
